Treatment for people with eating disorders can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Treatment for people with eating disorders can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (this intends to help a person to learn efficient self-help strategies and to change unhealthy and unhelpful habits of feeling, thinking, and behaving), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (this is an altered form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and aims to help people maintain, regulate and process negative emotions in a postive, productive manner), Family Based Psychotherapies (these are more common for adolescents, young adults and children, and involves to whole family or support system of the person during treatment), Self-help approaches (this is carried out by the person with the eating disorder, and often involves Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Nutritional management (these approaches are provided by a nutritionist or dietrition during treatment), Medication (prescribed by medical doctors or psychiatrists, and are vital for the persons health), and Complementary Treatment (this includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Remedial Massage, Kinesiology and Acupuncture)
It is also necessary to understand that different people respond to different types of treatment, even if they are experiencing the same eating disorder.
