Hardly people in the world nowadays who does not obsess in social media. Social media addiction is where someone who has a compulsive use of social media. For example, people who spend too much time checking their accounts or updates periodically and look at the ‘story’ or posts uploaded by friends or relatives. The habits of scrolling the phones whenever is free, take lots of ‘selfie’ and ‘stalking’ other people’s profile is common among people. It will last over long term as a result it affects human relations.
People who obsessed with social media are not able to focus on his work as it leads to decrease productivity and increase in procrastination. Recently the commuters or teenagers spending most of their willpower and energy on social media. Mostly, wasting their time scrolling mindlessly news and videos that does not add any value to their life, this is less likely to complete their tasks. For example, a student keeps dragging on and finding excuses to not complete the homework but not reflect on himself addicted to social media. Hence, their reputation might ruin if they did not alter their behavior.
FOMO (fear of missing out) is a symptom occurs when the feeling of worried that you may miss exciting events that other people are going out. Normally, when one looking into social media and feel like be kept out of the loop makes one jealous. It is a phenomenon that occurs when everyone else is doing and feel like be kept out of the loop if did not participate as well. This makes a person have a sensation of despondent and anxiety and start to think, ‘everyone is having fun without me’ or ‘Is it I am no longer their friend?’. These mental health problems will probably have negative impact on their surroundings. They might struggle to maintain positive, health relationship as the depression and anxiety are not properly treated.
