Consequentialism- the act of thinking about the consequences and the potential outcomes that could arise from doing action and not about the motive or any intentions. This can be incorporated in supporting individual’s needs in health and social by taking into consideration how something which may seem small to a professional could effect a service user very negatively. For example if service users have lunch at 12 every day and it is late due to an activity it may distress some service users. The benefit of this is that service users are less likely to feel distressed.

Deontology- the act of focusing on intentions rather than the outcome and sticking to duties and any obligations.

Virtue ethics- making a decision only considering your own beliefs, morals and what you think is the right way to approach individuals with.

This incorporates in supporting for individuals with different needs by doing the best for that service user. When making decisions the professionals should always go with the path in which would befits that service user even if it may not be the best diction for the professionals. For example if a service user with high functioning autism had two choices of drink and the professional didn’t ask them which one they preferred because it would be easier and quicker to just pick a random one up and give it to them. By doing this the service user is still included in their choices and are being enabled.
